In drawings, when you insert ordinate dimensions in parent views, the dimensions continue in detail views.

The detail view uses the existing 0 point in the parent view.

Conversely, when you insert ordinate dimensions in detail views and apply ordinate dimensions in parent views, the parent view uses the 0 point from the detail view.

Note: To add more dimensions along the same ordinates, right click an ordinate dimension and select Add to ordinate for those dimensions you missed to add.
